2012 Range Rover Evoque - Motor Trend SUV of the Year

Range Rover...What comes to your mind when you hear that?  Celebrity, luxurious, expensive, big SUV, big rims...

Welcome; the Evoque...something completely different.

The newest edition and something different for the Range Rover collection of vehicles.  This SUV boasts a turbo-charged four cylinder engine and gets an estimated 28 mpg highway; the best mpg for all vehicles in the line up.  There are 3 models to choose from (love the names of the trims) Pure, Prestige and Dynamic with the Pure starting at a very affordable $43,995. This also comes in a coupe which looks fabulously stylish. The Evoque is just starting to hit dealerships so I am going to make my way to one so I can get behind the wheel and report on more.

PS. The Evoque just won the famous Motor Trend SUV of the Year! Congrats.

Lorraine Schwartz Bangles

Lorraine Schwartz. When I hear that name I have flashes of the most beautiful jewelry pieces on the earth. Lorraine Schwartz has perfected jewelry design and every celebrity is wearing her pieces on the red carpet or at parties. I searched through the internet to find some of my favorite bangle collections and put together this picture. Each bracelet is an eye catching work of art. One day I will have a piece of her collection in my jewelry armoir.  A girl can dream right?

Made the drive to Nordstrom Rack yesterday.  I am pleased to report that I found some amazing finds! Even more exciting news, we are finally getting one in our little town of Temecula!

Find #1: Michael Kors Sunglasses $19.97...had to buy 2 pairs at this price!

Find #2:  Plenty by Tracy Reese Shoes $55.97...marked down from $89.97, originally $109.97. Fabulous.

Find #3: Liebskind Berlin Mia Satchel $109.97...originally listed at $354 at Nordstrom, found it on the clearance rack! I will carry it proudly, pretending it is a Birkin bag! The leather on this bag is amazingly soft and the craftmanship is perfection. IN LOVE...

Volkswagen Debut Anticipation for LA Auto Show

The 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show is quickly approaching and yours truly is VERY excited about attending.  I will be in my glory with cars everywhere.  I am so giddy about going it's like someone just bought me a Hermes Birkin bag! Well that would be nice, but hopefully you get the point of how excited I am!

Volkswagen will be debuting 2012 production vehicles and concept cars.  Of course I did my review on the 2012 Beetle Turbo, but I am hoping they debut the convertible model!  They will be debuting a Beetle 'R' Concept which looks like a new piece of jewelry! One has said it is "getting a shot of testosterone" (autoblog.com), but I think it looks like a great new accessory to add to any outfit!

Keep checking back for more Auto Show sneak peeks and reviews!  One excited girl over here!

Loving the Layered Look

Loving this layered look from Francesca's Collection for winter.  Tights with shorts is uber trendy and super cute. The right textured tights can really flatter different shapes. Make sure you are careful with what boot height you choose. Short legs should not wear over-the-knee boots; to make your legs look longer pick boots that hit you about 2-3 inches under your knee. Just some fashionista advice to help you look and feel your best and flaunt those legs!  Have a fabulous day.

2012 Volkswagen Beetle

Introducing the Newly Re-Designed

2012 VW Beetle

This past weekend I brought home the 2012 Beetle Turbo in Candy White. Thanks to Mossy Volkswagen in Escondido. This car is the definition of  sassy or as the German would say, "frech"! It comes with plenty of features; and the options that you can add exceeded my expectations for the Beetle. Especially the 200 horsepower engine on the turbo model.  And if I wasn't mistaken the re-designed look strongly resembles a shrunken down Porsche Panamera; especially the rear end.

As soon as I pressed the gas pedal to get on the freeway, it was obvious that this was the turbo model. There is a little lag, and then you can feel and hear the turbo kick in and effortlessly take off; while the shifting is smooth. I could weave this car in and out of lanes with ease since the suspension and steering were stiff and sporty; and I was getting looks of curiosity from other cars on the road!

The first thing I noticed when I saw the car was that the new body style was sleek and much more grown up.  The body is wider, by 3.3 inches, and has a more aggressive look than the previous model. Getting away from the bubble look definitely helped!  But VW did a great job remembering to keep the iconic "Bug" look that everyone recognizes. There are 6 different trims to choose from starting at $19,795 up to $29,795.  The trims start as your basic model, which is well equipped, to the loaded trim that includes the turbo motor and a Fender premium sound package and much more.

The Important Details

* Seats 4 people and has more than enough head room for someone over 6'2". The seats are comfortable and have plenty of back support. The seats have a 60's style horizontal stitching look that complements the exterior.
* The gas mileage is 21 city and 30 highway with a 14.5 gallon tank.
* The trunk space is excellent and very surprising.  It could easily fit 3 or more suitcases and plenty of shopping bags. The rear seat splits 50/50 and lays down flat to have extra large cargo space.
* The dashboard and door panels are color matched to the color of the car.
* There is customizable ambient lighting around the front speakers and along the doors. Super cute and fun for night time!
* All models come with blue tooth, CD player and MP3 fittings. The standard stereo has great sound, but the Fender stereo is equivalent to surround sound in a recording studio.* Intelligent crash response system (ICRS): When the car is in an accident, the doors will unlock, the fuel pump is disabled and the hazard lights automatically turn on.
* Electronic stability control, side curtain air bags and ABS brakes.
* Loved that the brake calipers were red. Looked sporty against the 19 inch rims on the turbo model.
* The shape of the front window and the large windows around minimized the blind spots.
* One interesting thing that I did not see mentioned in the specs online, is when you turn the steering wheel to make a turn at night with the headlights on, a side light illuminates the side of the front end for added visibility. This was an unexpected and great safety feature.

After driving the 2012 VW Beetle Turbo for the weekend, I am a new found VW fan and especially a Beetle fan.  This car has great power, felt solid and safe and definitely did not disappoint.  This would be a great first car or a new car to take off to college with you.  It is small enough to fit in small parking spaces, yet does not lack the interior space, safety features or power. Looking forward to driving another VW soon!  Check back for more reviews!

Make sure to visit Mossy VW in person in the Escondido Auto Park or online at www.mossyvw.net.
